Clear step photos

Pictures for the shaping, colour changes and assembly — the moments where it helps to see what you're aiming for.

A simple materials list

Exactly which hook, yarn weight and few notions you'll need — plus beginner notes for the fiddly bits.

Delivered to your inbox

After payment, your PDF is emailed straight to you — yours to keep, print, or read on your phone.

The maker

Hello, I'm Elizabeth

Elizabeth Rector is a small one-person pattern studio in Chesapeake, Virginia. Every design starts as a doodle, becomes a slightly wonky first attempt, and only turns into a pattern once it's behaving itself.

I started writing my patterns down because friends kept asking how I'd made this or that little creature — and my scribbled notes were impossible to follow. So I rewrote them properly: every round spelled out, every stitch counted, and a photo wherever I remembered tripping up.

How my patterns are tested

Before a pattern goes in the shop I stitch it at least twice — once to write it, then again from the written words to make sure the counts and shaping actually work when you follow them. Anything tricky gets a photo and a plain-English note.

If you make something from one of my patterns, I'd love to see it — write to me any time at elizabethrector.site@proton.me.

Help & answers

Frequently asked questions

How do I place an order?

Add the patterns you'd like to your basket and tap “Email my order” — that opens your email app with your list ready to send. (You can also just email elizabethrector.site@proton.me with the names of the patterns.) We reply with a secure payment link; once you've paid, your PDF is emailed to you.

How do I pay?

By card, through a secure payment link we send you by email. Your card details are entered on our payment provider's secure page — they never come to us, and nothing is charged on this website.

How will I receive my pattern?

As a PDF emailed to you once your payment has gone through — usually within a few hours, and always within a day. There's nothing physical to post.

What format are the patterns, and can I print them?

Every pattern is a standard PDF that opens on phones, tablets, laptops and e-readers with any free PDF reader. Print a copy for your own use or keep it on a screen beside you.

I'm a beginner — will I be able to follow these?

Yes — that's exactly who I write for. Each listing shows an honest difficulty level, and patterns marked Beginner use only the basic stitches with extra notes for the magic ring and invisible decrease.

What yarn and hook do I need?

Every listing shows the hook size and yarn weight up front, and the PDF includes a full materials list. The exact brand and colour are always up to you.

Can I sell what I make from your patterns?

Yes — you're welcome to make and sell a reasonable number of finished items at markets, fairs or your own small shop. Please don't share, resell or republish the pattern itself, in whole or in part.

What's your refund policy?

Because patterns are delivered as instant digital files, sales are generally final once the PDF has been sent. That said, I always want you to be happy — if you're charged incorrectly, can't open your file, or receive the wrong pattern, just email me and I'll put it right. Full details are in the refund policy.

2. What you're buying

Every product is a digital crochet or amigurumi pattern delivered as a PDF. There are no physical goods and nothing is posted.

3. How ordering & payment work

Orders are placed by email rather than through an automatic checkout. You choose the patterns you'd like and send us your order (the basket's “Email my order” button fills this in for you). We reply with a secure payment link, and once your payment is received we email your PDF. Your card details are entered on our payment provider's secure page and are never collected or stored by this website.

4. Your licence to use the pattern

  • You may use the pattern as often as you like for your own crochet.
  • You may make finished items from it and sell a reasonable number of them — at markets, fairs or your own small shop. A credit (“pattern by Elizabeth Rector”) is appreciated but not required.
  • You may not copy, share, resell, lend or republish the pattern file or its text, in whole or in part.
  • You may not claim the pattern as your own or use it to create a competing pattern.

5. Intellectual property

All patterns, photographs, illustrations and text on this site remain the intellectual property of Elizabeth Rector and are protected by copyright. Your purchase grants the licence above; it does not transfer ownership.

6. Prices & taxes

Prices are shown in US dollars (USD). The amount on your payment link is the amount you pay; any taxes that apply will be shown there before you confirm.

7. Delivery

Patterns are delivered digitally — see our Delivery & Fulfilment policy for details.

8. Refunds

Because patterns are delivered as instant digital files, our Refund Policy explains when a refund is and isn't possible. We always aim to make things right if something has gone wrong.

9. Acceptable use

Please don't use this site for anything unlawful or attempt to disrupt it. We may decline or cancel an order we reasonably believe is fraudulent or breaches these terms.

10. Disclaimer & limitation of liability

Patterns are tested with care and offered in good faith. Results naturally vary with the yarn, hook and tension you use, so we can't guarantee an identical finished item. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to a pattern is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing here removes consumer rights that can't be waived.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

12. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The version shown here when you order is the one that applies to your order.

Delivery & Fulfilment

Everything here is a digital product, so “delivery” means a PDF sent to your inbox — there's nothing to post.

Digital products only

Elizabeth Rector sells crochet and amigurumi patterns as downloadable PDF files. There are no physical goods, no postage and no shipping fees.

How delivery works

  • You send your order by email (or tap “Email my order” in the basket).
  • We reply with a secure payment link for the patterns you chose.
  • Once your payment is received, we email your PDF so you can download and keep it.

How long it takes

Orders are handled personally, so please allow up to 24 hours — though in practice most go out within a few hours. If you're in a hurry, just say so in your email and we'll do our best.

File format & what you need

Patterns are standard PDF files that open on phones, tablets, laptops and e-readers with any free PDF reader. Read on screen or print a copy for your own use.

No physical shipping or customs

Because your purchase is digital, it's available worldwide with no shipping times, duties or customs paperwork.

If your pattern doesn't arrive

Check your spam or junk folder and confirm the email address you used. If it still hasn't arrived, email elizabethrector.site@proton.me and we'll re-send it promptly.

Refund Policy

We want you to be genuinely happy with your pattern. Please read this alongside our Terms of Service.

The nature of digital goods

Every product is delivered as a digital file. Once a pattern has been emailed to you and downloaded it can't be “returned” the way a physical item can, so as a general rule all sales are final once the PDF has been sent.

When we'll always make it right

That general rule doesn't stop us looking after you. We'll gladly arrange a fix or refund if:

  • you were charged the wrong amount or charged twice;
  • your file won't open or is corrupted and we can't resolve it;
  • you were sent the wrong pattern;
  • you never received your pattern; or
  • you change your mind before we've sent the file — just let us know.

How to request help or a refund

Email elizabethrector.site@proton.me with your name and a short note about the problem. The more detail you give, the faster we can sort it out.

How long it takes

We aim to reply within 1–2 business days. Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method through our payment provider; the time to appear depends on your bank or card issuer.

Chargebacks

If anything seems wrong, please contact us first — we can almost always fix it faster than a chargeback, and a quick email saves everyone the hassle.

Your statutory rights

Some customers (for example in the EU and UK) have a statutory right to withdraw from a digital purchase within 14 days. For downloadable content that right ends once the download begins with your consent. Nothing in this policy affects consumer rights that can't legally be waived.
